Iowa Highschool Girl's Wrestling Wrap-Up

With State having been completed over a month ago, we at Luctacio production felt that although the main subject of our documentary is Kiara Djoumessi and her inspirational story about conquering her goal of being a champion. We also think that all the talented women who participated in this year's inaugural girls' state wrestling tournament. With over 1300 girls participating in the tournament all have earned their roses and accolades but only 1 from each weight class this year could be named the best of the best.

The champion of the 100lbs. Weight bracket was Biscoglio, a freshman from Decorah, who became the tournament’s first individual champion when she beat Gable Hemann of Osage 5-2.

The champion of the 105lbs. weight class was Jillian worthen of Union, Laporte City. She wrestled Layla Phillips of Mason City and won 10-1.

The champion of the 110lbs weight class bracket was Jasmine Luedtke of Ottumwa who bested Bree Swenson of Vinton-Shellsburg 4-1.

The champion of the 115lbs. weight class was Molly Allen of Riverside Oakland who bested Molly Sek of Sioux City North by a pin for 4 minutes and 43 seconds.

The champion of the 120lbs. weight class was Abigail Meyrer, a freshman of Pleasant Valley, who bested Layla Ewing, by decision 2-0.

The champion of the 125lbs. weight class was Mackenzie Childers, of Cedar Rapids Prairie who bested Hannah Rogers of Wilton by pin at 3 minutes and 18 seconds.

The champion of the 130lbs. was Lilly Luft of Charles City, who bested Chloe Sanders of Vinton-Shellsburg 9-0.

The Champion of the 135 lbs. weight class bracket was Maeley Elsbury of South Tama County who bested Alexis Ross of Fort Dodge 2-0.

The champion of the 140lbs. weight class bracket was Kiara Djoumessi of Waverly-Shell Rock who bested Mahri Manz of Lewis Central by pin at 1 minute and 7 seconds.

The champion of the 145lbs. weight class was Emma Peach of Iowa Valley Marengo who bested Haidyn Snyder of Waverly-Shell Rock by pin at 3 minutes and 58 seconds.

The champion of the 155lbs. weight class was Skylar Slade of Southeast Polk, who bested Jannell Avila of Iowa City West by pin at 2 minutes and 54 seconds.

The champion of the 170 lbs. weight class was Naomi Simon of Decorah who bested Libby Dix of Mount Vernon by pin at 1 minute and 35 seconds.

The champion of the 190lbs. weight class was Mackenzie Arends of Nevada who bested Jana TerWee of West Lyon 1-0.

The champion of the 235lbs. weight class was Olivia Huck felt of Spencer who bested Madison Hinrichs of Waverly-Shell Rock by pin at 2 minutes and 35 seconds.

While our story focuses on Kiara, we at Luctacio congratulate all those whose names are chiseled into history by becoming champions in their weight class. Shout out to all those who put up a good fight and competed in the first IGHSAU Girls Wrestling Tournament.
